Hourly Sales
The Hourly Sales page shows you how your store's activity is distributed throughout the day. This is one of the most actionable reports for making staffing and operational decisions.
The Hourly Bar Chart
A bar chart displays sales for each hour of the day (from store open to close). Each bar represents one hour, and its height shows the total sales amount for that hour.
If you have selected a multi-day date range, the chart shows the average sales per hour across all days in the range. This smooths out single-day anomalies and gives you a reliable picture of your typical daily pattern.
Summary Cards
At the top of the page, summary cards provide quick stats:
- Peak Hour -- The hour with the highest average sales
- Total Sales -- Combined sales for the selected period
- Total Customers -- Total customer count across all hours
Clicking a Bar
Click or tap on any bar in the chart to see a detailed breakdown for that hour:
- Sales amount for that hour
- Customer count
- Items sold
- Active terminals -- How many registers were in use
- Timing metrics:
- Operator time -- Time cashiers spent actively ringing items
- Tender time -- Time spent on payment processing
- Idle time -- Time registers sat idle with no activity
- Wait time -- Time customers waited
If you see high idle time during peak sales hours, it may mean some registers are sitting unused while customers wait in line. If idle time is high during slow hours, that is expected.
Using Hourly Data for Staffing
The hourly chart helps you answer key staffing questions:
- When should I have the most cashiers? Look at your peak hours. If sales spike between 11 AM and 1 PM, make sure you have full register coverage during those times.
- When can I schedule breaks? Look for natural lulls (low bars) where you can rotate cashiers off the floor.
- Am I overstaffed during slow hours? If you have many active terminals but low sales in the early morning or late evening, you may be able to reduce coverage.
A Note About Today's Data
Hourly data for the current day updates throughout the day as the agent syncs every 15 minutes. However, some timing detail metrics (operator time, idle time, etc.) only become fully available after end of day when ENCOR consolidates its hourly productivity data.
If you are viewing today's hourly chart and some hours look incomplete, that is expected. Check back after the store closes for the full picture.
